Mission of the Nurse Educator Council

As members of the Rhode Island State Nurses Association, the Nurse Educator Council (RINEC) is a coalition of nurse educators which will serve as a resource for nurse educators (academic and clinical) who are working in the state of Rhode Island. Our mission is to promote excellence in the education of future nurses. Furthermore our mission is to enhance the sharing of knowledge among the educators from different nursing programs and schools in this state. RINEC will endeavor to provide legislative leadership to enhance nursing education, while maintaining high standards. It shall also be the mission of this council to advocate for competitive wages that fairly compensate the expertise of nurse educators and that will enable schools of nursing to recruit and retain highly qualified nurse educators.

Based on the Mission of the Nurse Educator Council we will:

1. Promote excellence in the education of future nurses

a. Provide opportunities for continuing education
b. Develop support and mentoring programs for nurse educators
c. Encourage certification of nurse educators


2. Enhance sharing of knowledge among educators

a. Develop a listserve to improve communications among R.I. educators
b. Submit a quarterly column in “The Rhode Island Nurse”
c. Provide networking opportunities for nurse educators
d. Promote sharing of best practices among nurse educators


3. Provide legislative leadership to enhance the image of nursing

a. Monitor legislative actions affecting nurse educators
b. Serve as a resource for legislative activities affecting nursing education
c. Encourage representation of nurse educators in state and national organizations


4. Advocate for competitive wages

a. Serve as a resource for facilitating changes affecting the health and welfare of nurse educators
