Mentorship
To know someone here or there with whom you can feel there
is understanding in spite of distances or thoughts unexpressed - that can
make life a garden - Goethe
The concept of mentoring has its roots in Greek mythology. In Homers
Odyssey, King Odysseus leaving home to participate in the siege of Troy
appointed his friend Mentor to educate and guide his son Telemachus.
The story is told of Mentor nurturing, protecting, teaching and guiding
Telemachus to his rightful place in Greek society. And so it is in our
society of Clinical Nurse Specialists that we seek to nurture, counsel,
and guide less experienced members of our group in their pursuit of
professional excellence. As one of us succeeds we all share in the success!
Your Council has sought individuals willing to volunteer their time
and expertise to less experienced members for the purpose of supporting,
guiding and providing useful information to its members. Individuals will be able to access help from mentors
based on their particular area of need. Mentors will provide individual
support on an ongoing basis and will be supported by the executive committee.
Click on the contact button next to the mentor you would like to seek professional advice from. You will be directed to fill out a short form with basic infomation about yourself. After submitting the form you will be provided with the appropriate contact information for your chosen mentor.
