Mission Statement

As a member of the Rhode Island State Nurses Association, the Rhode Island Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist Council serves as a resource to clinical nurse specialists, other health care professionals and the lay community.  We are committed to promoting the highest standards in the delivery of psychiatric mental health care to individuals of all ages and supporting PCNS’ in this process.  As a resource, we  provide timely information about educational programs and conferences  that may be of interest to our members.  Through our mentorship program we support all PCNSs including the novice clinician and prescriber.  We provide information on important legislative issues and facilitate action to improve patient care and support the advanced practice role of the PCNS in diverse settings in our state.  We continue to work towards eliminating inequities in the delivery of and access to mental health services and strive towards promoting the well being of the people in Rhode Island.
